  i've often spoken of my xjw friend and his younger chinese partner.

  my friend was kicked out of yhwh's "clean" organisation when he was around 60. .

  before he became a witness at around age 17-18, he did appreciate that he was attracted to other guys.

  i know that a lot of the people on here have turned their backs on the idea of a deity deciding that god does not exist.

  but what about the unseen spirit world generally such as poltergeists, jinns, voodoo, etc.

  if you have become agnostic, atheist, or just don't care since leaving, do you think that there are spirits out there or have you decided that is also hokum?

  if humans have to suffer to have free will and to disprove satan's challenge to god as mentioned in the bible...then why the f*ck do animals have to suffer as well?

  satan's challenge involved humans and not poor animals.. i'm looking for an honest explanation from believers.. at this point, the older i get, the less i believe in a god who is "love"..

  For those who are athest, or non-christian, how did you come to this decision?

  i'm not asking this question to cause an argument or accuse, but i am honestly just wondering?

  for those of you who are now atheist or non-christian, how did you come to this decision?

  i hadn't given this much thought until about a year ago.

  Can I offer a thought?

  Christians are only ONE god away from being atheists.

  Let me explain. For the sake of simplicity, let's say that through history mankind has worshiped 10,000 gods.

  Do you Mr. or Mrs. Christian, believe that Allah, Xenu, Shiva, Thor, Baal, Ahura-Mazda, Cthulhu or The Flying Spaghetti Monster are the One True God? Of course not. If I continued to name the remainder of the 10,000 names of god, you would say "NO" to each one of those, thereby eliminating 99.99% of the gods "known" to man.

  You are SO CLOSE to being an atheist!

  I took the one step that remains for you - I reject all 10,000 gods!

  It helped that I discovered that the Bible was fraudulent hokum and that evolution was the way that lifeworks.

  Come! Kiss God goodbye with me!

  SOME people might say something like,

  "It's very real. Seeing was believing for me."

  (IF you have said this, allow me to comfort you - YOU are not being "picked on" here - but your ATTITUDE is...)

  OK, so shall we assume that you're an expert at logic, that you have a thorough grasp of the mechanisms of illusion, AND that you are CERTIFIED to be "nobody's fool."

  I guess if you saw the movie "IT" you would be convinced that CLOWNS are DEMONS, right?

  After all, "seeing is believing," right?

  As for the Bible's "explanations" - the gibbering of superstitious uneducated goatherds and the voices in their heads - no higher authority can there be! If a stage magician used sleight-of-hand to pull a coin from behind your ear, you'd tie him to a stake and set it aflame, wouldn't you?
